Nykteria is a blackened death metal band from Finland, and this is their debut full-length. To me, this is somewhat similar to the recent Oracle Of Worms release in that it brings a strong dose of death metal with heavy riffs and aggressive drumwork. Overall, this is a very good listen in my opinion.

Here is the newest release from Dawn Of Creation, a band I have been aware of for several years, but I guess I haven't followed them too closely. I first heard their Masquerade Poetry EP in 2014, but they fell silent until 2022, and I never paid much attention to that comeback album. I listened to this release a few days ago in the car, and I like what they have created, even though it isn't anything I haven't heard before. It is definitely worthy of a few listens.

This album came out last November, and I slept on it for quite some time even though I have long been a fan of this band. This album is another excellent offering in a long line of quality releases. If you haven't heard this album or this band, then be sure to check it/them out.

Someone, and I don't remember exactly who it was, praised this album in the chatbox several weeks ago, and I am just now getting around to listening to it. I must say that I agree with the earlier assessment; this is a very nice step in the band's progression. Genre tagged as Avant-garde death metal, it just sounds like high-quality death metal to me.

This album won't be for everyone, but I kinda dig it as it takes me back to what I liked about this style in the early 2000s. The chick has some serious venom in her voice, and at times she gets brutal. This is a guilty pleasure for me for sure.

Lex Legion - Lex Legion [2026]

7. Saviours

8. Life Eternal

9. Far Away

Witness: -[*]-
Lex Legion is made up of either current or former members of King Diamond's band, except for the vocalist, who is from progressive power metal fame in Pagan's Mind and Eidolon. At times, he mimics the King's falsetto, and those are probably my favorite moments on the album. Knowing the members of this band, you can expect some good instrumental performances, but overall I prefer their contributions to KD.

10. Curse of Haserot

Witness: -[*]-
I have been following this band ever since I heard their EP, Throne of Malice, a few years ago, and I have been excited for this album to be released. I feel like these guys have a lot of skill, and I really like the fact that they are working with Dan Swanö, as I have typically liked his stylistic influence on a band's sound. I like the territory this band continues to explore, and I hope I can make time to listen to this more.

Here is a slice of obscure Canadian thrash with a technical edge and some nice performances. It would have worked better for me back in '89 than it does now but I still like it a lot. Unfortunately this would be their only full-length album as they disbanded shortly after this release.

Here is a band that I would have really loved back in the day, but they never made it past the demo stage, and since they were from San Jose, CA, and I lived in the Midwest at that time, I never even heard of them until this compilation. Based on the quality of a few of these songs, I am really surprised they weren't more successful, but I guess they appeared too late.

I like this new album from Arroganz; in my opinion, it has a more consistent death metal vibe than their previous work. Check it and see what you think.

10. My Wrath

Witness: -[*]-
I admittedly have not spent much time listening to the Metal Church releases from the past 3 decades, as I had mostly moved on to more aggressive styles, but I used to love this band back in my favored decade of the 1980s. However, I decided to give this album a listen a few weeks ago, and it kind of grabbed my attention mainly because the growl of the new singer is reminiscent of David Wayne, but I like a lot of the music they have created here as well. It also got me to go back and listen to their classic albums again and give them a deserved spot here in The Chamber.

The follow-up to this release, The Human Factor, was the last Metal Church album that I listened to with any frequency, but this 3rd album from the band saw them at the pinnacle of their talents. Even though I preferred the first two, this is a very good album, that I used to listen to it a lot.

This was the last album with David Wayne as the vocalist until he rejoined the band for a short time in the late 90s, and they released Masterpeace, which I have actually never listened to. These first 2 albums from Metal Church were highly effective and essential at the time.

I still remember the party I was at when I first heard this album. That was a good night for many reasons ;)  The second half of the album tails off a bit, but side one was/is classic and will always be some of my favorite songs from that time period in metal.
