Lex Legion is made up of either current or former members of King Diamond's band, except for the vocalist, who is from progressive power metal fame in Pagan's Mind and Eidolon. At times, he mimics the King's falsetto, and those are probably my favorite moments on the album. Knowing the members of this band, you can expect some good instrumental performances, but overall I prefer their contributions to KD.

I have been following this band ever since I heard their EP, Throne of Malice, a few years ago, and I have been excited for this album to be released. I feel like these guys have a lot of skill, and I really like the fact that they are working with Dan Swanö, as I have typically liked his stylistic influence on a band's sound. I like the territory this band continues to explore, and I hope I can make time to listen to this more.

Here is a band that I would have really loved back in the day, but they never made it past the demo stage, and since they were from San Jose, CA, and I lived in the Midwest at that time, I never even heard of them until this compilation. Based on the quality of a few of these songs, I am really surprised they weren't more successful, but I guess they appeared too late.

I admittedly have not spent much time listening to the Metal Church releases from the past 3 decades, as I had mostly moved on to more aggressive styles, but I used to love this band back in my favored decade of the 1980s. However, I decided to give this album a listen a few weeks ago, and it kind of grabbed my attention mainly because the growl of the new singer is reminiscent of David Wayne, but I like a lot of the music they have created here as well. It also got me to go back and listen to their classic albums again and give them a deserved spot here in The Chamber.

The follow-up to this release, The Human Factor, was the last Metal Church album that I listened to with any frequency, but this 3rd album from the band saw them at the pinnacle of their talents. Even though I preferred the first two, this is a very good album, that I used to listen to it a lot.

This was the last album with David Wayne as the vocalist until he rejoined the band for a short time in the late 90s, and they released Masterpeace, which I have actually never listened to. These first 2 albums from Metal Church were highly effective and essential at the time.

Mutilation Barbeque is back with a new EP and has now released 2 EPs, a full-length, and a single in 6 years of existence. It seems they also have a new vocalist on this release, which I am a bit undecided on because I liked their original singer's voice, but change happens, so we might as well embrace it. The music still has their signature stomp and groove, so I am down with it!

Frozen Soul is a band that, based on the disparity in scoring of their Metal-Archive reviews, people either love or hate. I, for one, like them and their take on old-school death metal, but their albums haven't held a very high repeat listen value for me. Don't get me wrong, all 3 of their LPs have been solid with their first being the best for my tastes but maybe only because I haven't listened to the others enough.
