When I first came across this disc back in March I thought I was already familiar with this band but I guess I was confusing them with one of the other 10 bands with the same moniker. These guys are from South Dakota and have been around since 1990 with 2 original members remaining in the lineup and the death metal they have created here is actually quite good for my tastes.

I hadn't listened to these guys in a long time but then I was reminded of them by a request to repost their early albums and I decided to give this one a spin too. Early on I felt they had a death thrash vibe but this disc leans more thrash and I never followed up on their latest release.

Germany's Warfield Within is back with a new EP and their 2nd release in less than a year. I have to admit that after their 2010 album Inner Bomb Exploding I had lost track of them. Even though I had their 2023 release I hadn't given it any attention and was impressed with their progress after listening to this new disc. Now I need to go back and give some time to last year's effort.

Summoning The Lich from St. Louis, Missouri is a technical death metal band that I only recently discovered by the video from their upcoming album, Under the Reviled Throne due on 7/26/24 (below). That track made me go back and check out this album from 2021 and this is quite good so I am eagerly awaiting the new disc now.

This disc is very interesting to me there are parts of these songs that I love and then some other parts not so much but overall this is very cool music. On metal-archives, they're labeled as black metal and that is accurate but I hear a lot of other styles at play too and I like it!

This album came out in December of last year and it took me a minute to get to it because I was trying to get caught up on everything else I hadn't listened to up to that time. After several spins, I think this is an excellent example of modern tech death. Their 2021 release was good but for me, this represents a marked step forward.

I really liked their 1st album Scorn Aesthetics but then I didn't pay much attention to their 2nd album for some reason then I listened to this new one in its entirety today and damn do I like it! I'm disappointed that Alsvid left the band I believe it was his band originally but there are still 2 other original members from the 1st album remaining and the new incarnation sounds tight.

Traditional Death Metal from a German band who have been around since 2005, has 6 full-length albums to their credit, and this is the first music I have ever heard from them. I guess I have been living under a rock but I am glad I finally crawled out because this is good metal and I am now exploring their earlier work.

8. The Gilman House

Witness: -[*]-
A week or so ago, I came across this disc at one of the download sites, and immediately the grimy LoFi artwork caught my eye. I instantly thought to myself that this would either be some shitty-sounding OSDM wannabes or some killer death metal, so I went over to their BC page, and by the middle of the 2nd track, I hit the purchase button, which means I have respect for it. From what I can tell, Glutted Swarm is the brainchild of this dude, who wrote all the songs back in 2012/13 and then waited until now to pull together a talented group of session musicians to help him perform & record these tracks. They aren't doing anything that hasn't been done before, but they're doing it really well, and the songs have aged well too.

Witness: -[*]-
I was working out in the yard today and listening to this again for the first time in a long time and realizing this album is truly an underrated gem from my perspective. Maniacal old-school death thrash with some killer chainsaw riffs. Supposedly these guys are still active but they haven't released anything since this shredder in 2012 and their social media hasn't been updated for a few years now. That's a shame 'cause these guys created some heavy-ass thrash metal (\m/\m/)

Vulgaris is a London-based band that has created a varied and diverse album of extreme metal that is currently very appealing to me. Listen and decide for yourself.
