Damn, I had forgotten all about these guys over the past 10 years and then out of nowhere, they drop this beast on us. This is a damn fine album for my tastes but not sure how new all of the material is since the title track was released as a single 4 years ago but I hadn't heard it until today. It's too bad the production isn't a little bit clearer and punchier but I'll quit bitching because I like this album a lot!

Here is the new release from Wounds and I must say this is my new favorite album for 2024. These 4 guys from Chicago have created a very entertaining death metal album for my tastes. This is technical without being wanky and brutal without being over the top. I love the way they crafted the riffs in these tracks. Their 2019 EP Light Eater is very good as well but this is on the next level.

Witness: -[*]-
The newest release from Iowa's own Mutilated By Zombies is a killer slab of Midwest death metal and the only fault I can find with it is that it's too damn short, I want more.

Witness: -[*]-
I really like this album, it is easy to hear that these guys are having fun creating their brand of old-school styled thrash and they've been at it for a long time with several releases but this is my first exposure to Gamma Bomb. At times the Bobby "Blitz" influence is strong in this vocalist and that definitely adds to the appeal of the album for me.

I really liked Imperial Slave's self-titled 2021 album and this is their follow-up from December of last year. I hadn't listened to this one much until recently but I like this album too. These guys have a nice style for my tastes.

Resurge is a fairly new band from Portugal, which has become a hotbed for death metal over the past several years and these guys are carrying the banner proudly with this release.

I had posted Absolutisim's previous EP Blasting Trilok I but for some ignorant reason had the band labeled as being from Indonesia and then when this disc came out last year I thought this was a different band. I finally figured out my error and corrected it and I wanted to say that this is a very good offering of Spanish technical death metal and an excellent follow-up to their previous effort.

This is somewhat of a novelty as these guys are crafting deathcore in the Great White North of Fairbanks, Alaska. I know there are more but I can only think of one other band with a connection to that state and that is Turbid North.

Thanks to CarlG for reminding me about Bonestorm a couple of weeks ago because I went back to their 2020 release, which I really liked but hadn't listened to in quite a while and then he dropped this new album in here and I must say that I like this one even more. I can tell from a couple of listens this is a solid album. I already reached out to the band and I am going to purchase a physical copy of this one, maybe a t-shirt too. Damn, I am closer to 60 than not and I am still buying and wearing death metal t-shirts \m/\m/

So, I didn't create a BOTY list last year for the first time in the existence of The Death Chamber, I believe? If I had, I would've definitely included this album because it is one of my favorites from '23 but came out right in my transition period between career choices and the brilliance of this disc got overshadowed by other aspects of my life. I am here to tell you today that this is very good tech BDM.

One of the best technical death metal albums of 2016 for my tastes. This is technical German brutality of the highest order from the Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia region. This is my own rip that I am offering you but you should listen & then support the band (\m/\m/)
