For me, 2024 so far has been another good year for death metal but I have been trailing a few months behind on actually listening to new releases. For the first time in a long time, I am making an attempt to listen to everything that I collect. So my collection keeps growing but I am at least 2 months behind on listening to the new stuff. However, this album is one that I actually listened to when it was first released in January and I liked it right out of the gate but just now getting around to posting it. If you haven't heard this one yet be sure to give this a few spins, it is worth your time.

Sacrodeath has been around since 2004 but didn't release their first LP until 2017 and over the years they released a bunch of EPs, splits, videos, and a couple of live albums and this is only their 2nd full-length offering and it only clocks in at 28 minutes. This was originally released in '23 but I missed it and the reissue came out a week or so ago I had it on my BC wishlist and finally listened to it today and really like it. They create some killer riffs, rhythms, and breakdowns in their songs but it's not perfect there is too much repetition in many of the sections and they tend to drag it on a little too long at times. It doesn't matter though I still dig their brand of thrash \m/\m/

Witness: -[*]-
For some reason when I am in the mood for tech-death I always tend to overlook these guys and that is a crime because they are a very good band with an HQ back-catalog of albums and this new release is further proof that these guys are on top of their craft. Highly recommended \m/\m/

Damn, I like this EP and I really want to hear more from these guys soon. They released a single in 2023 that sounds a bit different than these tracks so I hope they don't shift too much because these songs are catchy as fukk.

Ranger - Speed & Violence [2016]

These guys have truly captured the essence of '80s speed metal on this album, everything from the artwork to the song-craft and the production quality screams old-school. I would have preferred a punchier production sound but it certainly has an authentic feel.

Aggression - Frozen Aggressors [2023]

Witness: -[*]-
This band has been around since 1985 but this is my first exposure to their music. The guitarist/vocalist is the only original member left with 2 other members since 2014 and a new bassist. Aggression isn't really doing anything special but if you're in the mood for a thrash romp then this should hit the mark.

I would say that the music Diskord has created over the years is twisted and chaotic, chocked full of many disparate styles and ideas, and typically doesn't suit my tastes but this album is very interesting and at times heavy as fuck. I find myself liking this one and the more I listen to it the more I understand it.

Are you familiar with 72 Legions from Cleveland, Ohio? If not you should certainly check into them as they have created 2 good EPs with this being their newest offering and I really like the 5 tracks on this effort. The band features members who have contributed to Inhuman Condition, Fully Consumed/Mutual Hostility, as well as Annihilator & Nevermore to name a few. They are labeled as melodic death metal but I am not getting much of a melo-vibe from their style.

Back in the late '90s, I liked this band when I discovered their album Dimensions however I had written off the possibility of getting anything new from them since I knew they had split many years ago to focus their efforts on Panzerchrist and other projects. However, this past weekend I was quite pleased to come across this new release of "lost material" from these Danes. Listen and enjoy!
