Falling Meat is a killer band from Germany who were unknown to me until just a couple of months ago even though they have been active since 2012. I really like the 4 tracks on display here with their new vocalist. Interestingly, this EP has the same title as their 2013 debut LP but only 1 track (YouTube link above) is pulled from that album, and track 2 is taken from the 2020 Virus album.

I was really into Shores Of Elysium in the early 2010s but then I lost track of them as my tastes changed a bit but then I came across this release today and listened to it from start to finish and even though they are firmly in the deathcore camp they have sucked me back in.

From the land of Lord Frost comes Pheretrum. This band is pretty raw at times but this album has a nice groove to it as well, so give it a listen.

Damn, this is a very good album and I don't care if it is 7 years old already it still sounds fresh and vital. This is not to be confused with the US grindcore band as these guys are from the Rhineland in Germany. I am not sure how but we all managed to miss this album back in 2016 because it didn't even get an honorable mention on any of our lists and that is a crime because it is an excellent release. I am just hoping these guys put out something new and soon \m/\m/

Witness: -[*]-
This disc was released by Bitter Loss Records and I just saw the other day that they went out of business, which is a sad bit of news because they had some quality releases. I also know that the download culture contributes to the struggle of these smaller labels but I would also like to think that the exposure sites like TDC provides to lesser known bands helps more than it hurts.

Distention have created a brutal brand of technical death metal for our listening pleasure. Featuring former members of Rivers of Nihil, The Kennedy Veil, Virulent Depravity, Cognitive, & Visceral Disgorge, their style is pretty much an amalgam of all of those influences and it hits hard.

This early release showed more of a technical flair to their style but that was lost on their next album, 19 years later, and now they are tagged as brutal death metal.
