Damn, I was totally caught off guard by this new Casket Grinder release as I am a big fan of these guys and really liked their 2020 album Fall Into Dementia, and the thing is that this new release is far superior to that one. If the year ended right now this would be #1 on my EOY list. Totally killer & highly recommended \m/\m/

Bringing this disc back to the front of the house today for another spin. This is some high-quality French death here. I used to see them tagged as deathcore, but I never really heard the "core," it was always more death metal to me \m/\m/

CarlG mentioned the new disc from Battlesword a while back and commented on the fact that it doesn't sound that melodic to him and I haven't listened to it much but I think this debut album and especially their 2019 release are good examples of melodic death done right.

10. Shadows of God

11. Gil-galad (The Sanctified)

Witness: -[*]-
I was right in the transition from thrash, power, & groove to death metal and then I heard this disc and thought to myself, damn these power thrash guys still have more to say. I also like the reminiscent Jon Oliva feel to the vocals, at the time I appreciated it very much and the guitarists are killer too in my opinion. This is my own CD rip and I have their '96 Maleficium release on hard copy as well.

Witness: -[*]-
This was the only Lizzy Borden album I ever came across in my local record store back in the day and I bought it. I have to admit that this was always a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, I thought they were campy in their appearance but there are a few really good tracks on this album, the track Notorious in the YouTube link up there is a good example.

Silent Knight - Full Force [2022]

I have been exploring a lot of different stuff lately and wanted to point out some of the power, speed, & thrash metal I have been into recently. This album provides some moments of goodness but overall is a bit too melodic for me.

I am going to go on a power/speed metal trip here for a minute. This is an older Skelator album for all of you who are open to the power metal genre. I have promoted these guys for a while here in The Chamber and I felt this disc deserved a spot as well.

Witness: -[*]-
Damn! I was totally caught off guard by this album, I had heard some of their older material in the past and was mostly indifferent to their style but on this album, they have finely honed their craft into a grooving, crusty slab of death metal goodness \m/\m/
