I stumbled across this disc a while back and I have grown to like it a fair bit. These guys from Osnabrück in the Lower Saxony region have a cool techy, thrashy melodic style to their death metal and I dig it.

I have been a long-time fan of Poppy Seed Grinder and have posted a lot of their music here (I hope they don't mind). I picked this disc up in early November right when I stopped working and had more time to listen to music, at the time I didn't realize that they had changed vocalists but knew something was different about the band even before seeing the video and I'm cool with this change, she's an upgrade.

The new album from Aethereus shouldn't have surprised me because I have long been a solid fan of their music but it managed to anyway as I am liking this disc quite a bit and think they have created a solid piece of art here \m/\m/

A lot was being said about this disc a week or so ago and I have to agree strongly that this is a pretty good slab of death metal but it is difficult to tell which of these 3 guys if any are in the band currently.

A couple of months back I came across this disc on Bandcamp and after listening to it I thought to myself, damn dude this is a really good disc and we all missed out on it somehow because I didn't see it posted in any of the usual places. Then, I decided to take a look at CarlG's BoTY 2020 list and sure enough there it was, so he didn't miss out on it but I sure as hell did. A very good release from this Barvarian band and my own CD rip \m/\m/

8. Sunless

Witness: -[*]-
I am not any type of expert when it comes to black metal but I have liked & promoted certain bands over the years and this is going to be another one of them. I tried to push this needle into our friend Unbound's vein a week or so ago but he said that he doesn't care for overly technical guitars in his black metal. Damn, I don't know about that because there are some killer riffs on display here and some good drum work as well. From the coldest most desolate place on earth, Los Angeles, California, I present to you Abhoria!

Witness: -[*]-
This is a pretty fuking kool disc in my opinion and this band has been around for 8 years but I hadn't heard of them before now. Golgothan is from Lafayette, Louisiana and they got some blackened elfin voodoo shit going on here.

Obviously, I'm much more of a death metal guy but you know, every once in a while I get sucked in by a black metal band/release and back in the day it was bands like Ophthalamia or Naglfar and now Woe has a similar effect on me but it's much colder and less melodic. I posted this a few years ago and gave a big shout out to DDM for the Intel on this band, many thanks brother \m/\m/

I know that our metal brother CarlG is a huge promoter of this band and most projects that Martin van Drunnen is associated with, most notably Asphyx, and while I really like the music on display here I am not the biggest fan of MvD's vocals. Regardless this is a worthy little EP.
