I saw these guys play live in front of maybe 50 people about 2 days before this disc was released. The band was pretty good live and Andrew Lamb is certainly the brains behind Alterbeast and I like his style. On the negative, it was a very sad turnout for a show that had something like 6 bands including The Kennedy Veil, but there was something called Grindmother. Have you seen that shit? In the live setting it was a 2 member band with a 70 something year old lady doing hardcore-ishly death metal vocals over programmed drums and a dude playing the guitar😒

A huge shout out to Foretold for the drop of information here on this band and I am pretty sure he was the person who informed us of their EP back in 2015 as well. This is my new favorite disc of 2018, fudging killer!
Witness: -[*]-
This has been out for a while now but here is a French band that I am very glad I came across because I know these guys have some real potential with their old school styled madness.

An entertaining disc featuring guitarist Xavier Carion from Channel Zero and former Polluted Inheritance vocalist Ronald Camonier. These tracks have a total Death influence but The Sons wear their influences well in my opinion.

Damn people, don't overlook this disc! Probably would've been #1 on my list last year had I taken the time to listen to it then. Be forewarned this material is more for the melodic-tech aficionado than anyone else, but I'm pretty sure a lot of groups can relate to parts of this album anyway. Be sure to listen to the link above and track #6 - In Ethereal Sorrow and the last track if you want to hear the best 19-minute instrumental track of the modern age \m/\m/

There is really nothing I can say about this disc that isn't already known, I mean they're a very experienced band, what with the guitarist from Hideous Deformity and the drummer from Crypticus / Gods Forsaken / Just Before Dawn / ...and so many other bands. Maybe Brynjar Helgetun is the Norwegian Rogga Johansson on drums. I preordered this disc early on from Lacerated Enemy Records and I have to agree with what I have heard of other people's opinions, this is some stellar death metal!

Damn, I totally whiffed on this disc at the end of 2017 but that's the problem with discs released in December especially. The end of the year is all about new beginnings and moving on, and it makes it easy to pass right over a gem like this \m/\m/

This was one of my favorite discs from the techy, melodic deathcore genre of the 1st decade of the new millenium. The tracks on this release are filled with a ton of killer riffs and lead runs that work together to make the overall experience quite enjoyable in my opinion. Unfortunately I never got the same enjoyment out of their later releases, but this one was worthy \m/\m/
